the only thing that needs to be updated from CW Mil’s Marxian description of the power and explioitative ways of the military industrial complex of 50 years ago is his use of the term ‘man’ to represent the working people..
It could be the job description of those who, in the past decade have been using what Mills called the ‘revolving doors of the Political Milltiary Industrial complex .. using their poltical position to engage the country in war, whilst temporarlily retiring from their positions as directors of the companies making profits from the government contracts for the employment of mercenaries fighting those wars and for the commoditised equipments of war.
ps notably it wasn’t only Mills the sociologist who was concerned about the distortions of power of the mid twentieth century Miliary Industrial Complex. It was also Eisenhower who, on his resignation, warned against the new and especially concentrated form of power that characterised his era.
