Chocolate has been for many years. It was first used by Native American civilizations as a refreshment but soon, it has developed in bars we eat chocolate every day. But what does it take to make chocolate? Here are some tips to give you the idea.
First, chocolate is produced from cocoa beans Theobroma cacao. In English, this term means "food of the gods" because its heavenly taste that the Aztecs and Maya have enjoyed for years.
These grades are collected mainly from Ghana and the Ivory Coast, with some getting their supplies from other countries in South Africa and South America.
The reason why chocolate is rich in the fruits of these trees occur throughout the year. There are three types each has its distinctive flavor namely Creole Stranger and Trinity.
Of the three, the most abundant of these is Stranger. Criollo other hand is very rare, while Trinity is a hybrid of both.
The collection of pods is usually done by hand with machetes. Farmers need to split the pods are on the cocoa beans. Then they scratch pasta and beans inside the pods and left to ferment in baskets from 2 to 8 days.
Fermentation is important because without it, beans inside would be too bitter to enjoy. After this process, the content is distributed in a single layer to dry usually under direct sunlight the sun before being packed and sent to the buyer. Now you understand what farmers do, it's time to explain what manufacturers do. Once the beans reach the factory, is roasted and then transferred to a docking test. This machine removes the shell of the bean leaves and the "feathers", which is what is used to make chocolate. This is ground and becomes a rich thick paste now called chocolate liquor.
The fluid is then subjected to a process of further raising the cocoa butter is an end product called "cocoa cake or cocoa powder and here, manufacturers decide what kind of chocolate.
If the cake is bad, this be mixed with other ingredients such as vegetable fat, sugar and artificial flavors. If what you have is good, then it will be added to chocolate liquor back to other ingredients such as milk, sugar and vanilla until they are transferred to a conching machine.
The conching is considered the last stage of examination for chocolate flavor and texture finish. The speed, temperature and duration of this process has much to do with the taste of chocolate. This also helps eliminate tones acids.
This is then dipped into a large machine that serves the chocolate into the mold. Once they are frozen, the bars are packed and ready to ship consumers.
Now that you know what it takes to make chocolate, you can begin to appreciate what you buy when going to the supermarket and buy some of them as a sandwich. Some of them are cheap, while others are expensive and it all comes down to what kind of cocoa tree was used to produce the finished product.
